Things to Do This Columbus Day with Kids

October 4, 2019- The kids have off of school and you have to find a way to entertain them. Here are ways to entertain your kids, your neighbors’ kids, or your inner kid at heart this Columbus Day in Stark County!

1. Sluggers & Putters


Kids wake up full of energy?  Head over to Sluggers & Putters in Canal Fulton, where there’s fun for the kids and adults. Racing go-karts, putt-putting on TWO interactive and themed courses, F-22 Raptor go-karts, an arcade, and rides; the kids will love you for taking them there (plus, you get to be a big kid at heart!)


Columbus Day Special: Enjoy All-Day Fun from 12:00PM to 4:00PM of Unlimited Rides, Go Karts, and Mini Golf! All Day Pass is only $20 per person. (Additional Attractions including Batting Cages, Arcade, Rock Climbing Wall, Laser Tag are purchased seperately.)  PLUS, Grandparents play FREE!


2. McKinley Presidential Library & Museum


Kids love this interactive museum! Check out Discover World, where you are greeted by Alice the Allosaurous, and you can crawl into a hut that people that would have lived in over 11,000 years ago under the fossilized remains of a mastodon! Explore the Street of Shops and take a step back in time. Kids love the life-like President McKinley and Fascination Station, where you can capture your shadow, be the weatherman for the day, or create a mini tornado! The gift shop is affordable for parents and don’t forget to go to the top of the McKinley Monument.


The Museum is open 9AM until 4PM and admission is $10 per adult, $9 for seniors, and $8 for children ages 3-18 (2 and under are FREE)


3. Nickajack Farms Fall Festival & Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch 


Guess what time of year it is! Fall! Head on over to Nickajack for real fun on the farm, including animals and pumpkin patch! Take a hayride or test your skills in the corn maze. With tons of pumpkin activities, your kids will be bowling with pumpkins, golfing with them, and so much more! Kids can take rides on the pony’s there as well. Kids can go out to the pumpkin patch and pick their own pumpkin!


Festival hours are 11AM until 7PM and admission is $10 per person and $8 for senior citizens. 


4. Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park 


Pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful fall weather at Sippo Lake Park! Enjoy the trails, playgrounds, library and interactive environment learning at Congressman Ralph Regula Canalway Center. The Perry Sippo Library features a 400-gallon aquarium as well!


Canalway Center hours are 10AM until 4PM and is FREE to explore!


5. Hartville MarketPlace & Flea Market 


Monday means Flea Market Day! Give your kids $10 and see what they end up with! You never know what you might find at the flea market, but there’s sure to be plenty of vendors selling pumpkins, mums, and fall decorations for your home! The kids could event get an early start on holiday shopping.  Enjoy a fresh lunch at Sarah’s Grill with kid friendly favorites!


Open Mondays from 9:00AM until 6:00PM.


6. The Wilderness Center 


Your kids like exploring the outdoors? Take them to the Wilderness Center! With over 10 miles of walking trails, include an old growth forest, a lake, a pond, a look-out tower and prairies! Pack a lunch and play on the nature playscape that is a playground built out of steams, plants, boulders, logs, and earth mounds!


Enjoy the trails pen dawn until dusk and admission is FREE.


7. Maize Valley Fall Harvest Activities 


Maize Valley has activities for all ages this fall! Visit Ohio's Best Corn Maze featuring an 8-acre challenge celebrating more than 20 years of Corn Mazes! Kids can enjoy wagon rides and pumpkin cannons, while mom and dad relax with a glass of wine from the vineyard or delicious craft beer from the brewery. Enjoy delicious food for lunch or dinner!


Harvest activities are open 10AM until 8PM, with last admission taken at 6PM. Just $8 per person for a day of fun!


8. Canton Museum of Art


Join the CMA for our School’s Out FREE Mondays. Looking for something fun & educational to do with your family or friends on Columbus Day? The Canton Museum of Art has just the thing! Columbus Day at the CMA offers FREE admission, MAKE&TAKE art activities and more featuring our current exhibits - Through Darkness to Light: Photograph’s Along the Underground Railroad and The Spirit of Clay. The CMA will also have an Underground Railroad Story Time at 10:30AM.


Visit the Canton Museum of Art Monday, October 14th for FREE admission 10:00am to 4:00pm in honor of Columbus Day!


9. Sky Zone Belden Village
