Canton First Friday: Find Out What’s Going On!

February 22, 2018 -- The monthly music, food, and art festival held on the streets of the Canton Arts District and it's all about the ARTS this March!

  • Canton Palace Theatre (605 Market Ave. N) will be showing the FREE family movie, “Teen Titans Go! To the Movies” starting at 7:30pm. So grab some popcorn from the concession stand and enjoy the movie on Canton’s largest screen!
  • Strung by Shawna (221 5th St NW) - Stop in and check out our new pop-up retail store and workshop space freshly arrived from Davenport, IA! To celebrate First Friday we have 25% off mini DIY string art kits and $10 Make & Take 6" x 6" Shamrocks.
  • Cantonology (306 4th St. NW) It's an ArtSplosion at Cantonology! 10% off everything in the studio, plus special discounts on select items. Stop by and decorate a quilt square for the Canton Kindness Coalition "Kindness Quilt, and be part of both the art and kindness explosion in Canton! Plus, fun kids' art activities.

  • Makeshift (135 6th St NW) Join us in the gallery for the opening of Nathan Carpenter's show 'Axamelius Sacred Geometry Soul Art' and bring your instruments down to our chill spot to make First Friday your next gig with Dope Shows Vol. 3: Open Mic presented by Josee McGee.
  • The Martini Lounge at Market Square will have DJ Kelly Williams from 8PM - 11PM. Enjoy a $6 Martini of the Month, $8 Basil Martini, and 5 for $12 domestic buckets.
  • Check out new and seasonal apparel at Print & Press (429 4th Street NW) from Little Chicago Clothing Co., including all your St. Patty's Day gear. Plus fresh greetings and gifts from Letterpress Jess, and new work from more than 30 midwest makers and artists. And don't miss a printing demonstration from Letterpress Jess and Big Sal, the vintage letterpress printing press, from 7-9 p.m.

  • The Hub Art Factory will be hosting Young Blood: work from fresh, local artists looking to break into the art scene. Free to the public 5-10pm. Canton Film Fest free short film screenings 7pm and 8pm (upstairs).
  • FLASH FILM for FIRST FRIDAY will screen Short Films in the Category of Sci Fi & Horror at The Hub at 7 pm and 8 p.m. on March 1 for First Friday. With the Canton Film Fest right around the corner, expect to see a preview of the Festival's films at our event. The Canton Film Fest brings up and coming filmmakers here to the Canton Palace Theatre to meet passionate audiences from right here. FLASH FILM events get us pumped up for the coming festival.

  • Avenue Arts Marketplace and Theatre (324 Cleveland Ave NW) Malone University exhibit in the second floor classroom. ArtSposion at Avenue. Lake Middle School will be sending a variety of paintings from their 7th and 8th graders. This year they have explored the work of Howie Green, a contemporary artist, and have created landscapes in his style. Students also explored the art of biology and created "critters you can't cuddle with" watercolors. Malone University will screen seven short student films. Several directors will attend the screening, and we will have a short Q&A about 10 minutes after the screening.
