Stark 11: 11 Summer Fun Rainy Day Activities

June 13, 2017- No matter what the temperature is outside during the summer, a rainy day always disappoints. Take control of your rainy days, get out of the house and explore some of Stark County’s fun filled destinations!

Edpalacetheatre1. Star gaze in the middle of the day.

If you haven’t stepped foot into this beautiful theater, you are missing out! Check out some movies during the Summer Kids Series at The Canton Palace Theatre. Before the movie starts, don’t forget to look up at the ceiling to see some stars and clouds slowly roll through the “sky”.

Edmckinleymuseum2. Find Dinosaur Remains.

Take a step back in time to the Mesozoic and Paleozoic eras at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum’s, Discover World. Discover World is full of interactive exhibits for kids ranging from dinosaur fossils to modern science.

Edskyzone3. JUMP!

Still have a bug to move but the rain is keeping you from the outdoors? Try Sky Zone Belden Village and get to jumping. Have fun and get some good exercise on the many indoor trampolines. You can even show off your skills with tricks into the foam pit or the basketball hoops.

Edbeldenvillage4. Shop until you drop.

What better way to spend a rainy day then shopping?! Belden Village Mall has a store for everyone. With some new renovations and the addition of many new stores, it is a great way to spend the entire day inside away from the rain with some much needed retail therapy!

Edmassillonmuseum5. Explore Art.

A hidden treasure in downtown Massillon, the Massillon Museum is a sight to see. With different Exhibits always changing and the display of artwork. This FREE museum is a great place to hide from the rain and get in touch with your artsy side.

Edescaperoomdowntown6. Solve a mystery.

Looking for a brain challenge? Book a game at the Escape Room Downtown and see how fast you can solve the mystery. There are three different rooms to choose from with a different mystery to be solved in each of them. Work with a group of friends and family to problem solve based on the clues provided. Can you beat the clock?

Edhartvillekitchen7. Find some treasures for your home.

Although the rain might deter you from the outdoor flea market, there is plenty to see inside of the Hartville MarketPlace & Flea Market from furniture to food. Need some ideas for renovations or just to add to the list of your dream house? Stop over to Hartville Hardware to see my favorite part, the model homes inside of the store!

Edmuggswigz8. Get lost in a good book.

Out of all of the amazing coffee shops in Stark County, you really have your pick. Find one of your favorites and head over with a good book to sip on some coffee. A latte from Muggswigz Coffee & Tea Co. with a pastry and my favorite novel can definitely cure some rainy-day blues.

Edglazedandamused9. Paint your own piece of artwork.

Like to spend your rainy days crafting? Glazed & Amused is the place for you. First, pick an object to paint like a plate, a frog, a gnome, or even a dog bowl. Next, let your creativity take over and paint it however you would like with all sorts of colors to brighten up your day. Turn it in when you are finished and come pick it up a few days later after it has been fired in the kiln and admire your masterpiece. Maybe there will be a summer fun event happening!

Edharrylondons10. Fulfill your sweet tooth.

Have a sweet tooth? Want to learn more about how chocolate is produced? Take a FREE tour at Fannie May’s Harry London Chocolate Factory. As you get to see how the chocolate treats are produced, you might even get to sample a few of their staples. Afterwards, indulge yourself in the store and take home a bag of sweets to share (or keep all for yourself).

Edprofootballhof11. Explore the pastime of some football legends.

Haven’t been to the Pro Football Hall of Fame before? Has it been a few years? Check out the growing hall of busts and new exhibits. If you live local, take advantage of the Good Neighbor Discount and get $5 off your admission fee! Compare your arms, legs, and hands to the size of some of the best football players in the nation. I’m sure you’ll be surprised.

Want more indoor summer fun? Make sure to check out Center Ice Sports Complex and North Canton Skate & Entertainment Center! Both have activities for all ages!
