November 7, 2017- Nothing says holiday tradition, like seeing a live show with the family. The arts come alive with productions, concerts, and traditions that are uniquely Canton.

The Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Show | November 29

The Oak Ridge Boys, live at the Canton Palace Theatre, will be playing their hits and holiday favorites! One of the most distinctive and recognizable sounds in the music industry, the four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of The Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of country hits, such as “Elvira,” “Dream On,” “Bobby Sue,” “Fancy Free,” “American Made,” and “Thank God for Kids.”  Throughout their four-decade career, The Oak Ridge Boys have received numerous gold and platinum records, and continue to thrill audiences with their unique blend of country and gospel music. Elf The Musical Jr. | November 30-December 17

Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday, December 3 at 7:30pm; Saturdays at 2:30pm; Sundays December 10 & 17 at 2:30pm. A Christmas Carol | December 1-17

God Bless Us, Everyone! Canton’s beloved and spectacular holiday tradition as only the Players Guild can bring you! Dickens’ ghostly story of Ebenezer Scrooge will fill you with the spirit of Christmas! Performances are Fridays at 8PM, Saturdays at 2PM and 8PM, and Sundays at 2PM. Tickets are $29 for adults, $26 for seniors, and $22 for students 17 and younger. Tickets can be purchased here.

9th Annual “Christmas Music Celebration” | December 2

A Majestic Holiday Showcase featuring Holiday Classics, Heartwarming New Melodies, Familiar Carols and Singalong that all ages will enjoy!  MajesticVoice Chorus, under the direction of Kathleen Bell, will be joined by dancers from "A Time To Dance" in North Canton, Ohio featuring ballet, chorus line, and Irish Step Dancing. "Concert Only Tickets" are $20, concert time is 6:30PM.  An optional Holiday Buffet Dinner, served at 5PM. is $34 per person and includes the concert at 6:30PM. Tickets can be purchased here.

Encore! Big Band Christmas Magic | December 2

The program will feature music from The John Trapani Big Band, magician Tim Angeloni, and special appearances from the Canton South High School choir at the Canton South High School Performing Arts Center. Reserved seating tickets are on sale for $10 and can be purchased here.

Massillon Community Candlelight Walk | December 3

Carolers will sing on the steps of Massillon Public Library, the Massillon Museum will add a historic highlight, the Five Oaks Mansion will welcome guests, and Massillon Railroad Club will fascinate with its large model train display. Visit the warming station at the Thomas H. Russell House on historic Fourth Street for cookies and warm beverages. Choose your own route; set your own pace. Enjoy the candlelighting ceremony and choral music at St. Mary Church at the end of the event! All FREE for you to enjoy!

The Nutcracker | December 8-10

Do not miss this thrilling opportunity to see New York City quality dance in Canton! New York City Ballet soloist and Canton Ballet alumus Zachary Catazaro returns to the Palace Theatre stage with NYCB principal dancer Sterling Hyltin and dancers of Canton Ballet!  Their exciting performances in 2015 brought audiences to their feet.  “I had no idea it could look like that!” was a comment often heard among the audiences. Performances are Friday at 7:30PM, Saturday at 2PM & 7:30PM, and Sunday at 2PM. Tickets start at $21 for adults and $17 for children and can be purchased here.

Hell with the Holidays | December 8-16 

Santa seems shell-shocked, and there's only one way Father Time knows to bring him back to health and save Christmas! Gathering his family, the Holidays, at the arctic home of Jack Frost will be tricky, and any trouble will attract Mother Nature, who always makes things worse. Mardis Gras and Valentine are in love, Easter and Halloween are fighting, Earth Day wants her fair share, and who invited Krampus? Don't miss this yule time free for all with Christmas hanging in the balance.

This year's "Hell, with the Holidays" is the final version of the original play that has been workshopped at the Howland Theatre to delighted audiences in 2015 and 2016. A yuletide fable by Grey Forge LeFey, the production is not recommended for young audiences. Performances are December 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 10PM. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased here. 

“Bells of Christmas” | December 10

No sound is lovelier during the Christmas season than the sound of bells ringing joyfully at St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church.  Come join The Harmony Ringers, the only semi-professional bell choir in Stark County, when they present “Bells of Christmas”.  A few of the songs that you will hear are “Jingle Bell Rock”, “And the Glory of the Lord” from The Messiah, “The Little Drummer Boy”, and “The First Noel” which is always a crowd favorite.  This will be the first concert to use our 6th and 7th octaves of new bass chimes which add such a depth to the music.  This concert is FREE to the public, but freewill donations are always appreciated.

Kellie Pickler & Phil Vasser Christmas at the Canton Palace | December 15

Celebrate the holiday season at the historic Canton Palace Theatre with Kellie Pickler and Phil Vasser! Both are country music superstars, and will be performing their top ten hits, plus your favorite holiday classics. Tickets start at just $49 and can be purchased here.

A Chorus For A Cause presents “Comfort and Joy” | December 16

Come, relax and discover the peace and joy of the Christmas season when A Chorus For A Cause presents “Comfort and Joy” at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church.  They have a wonderful selection of uplifting songs that express the Christmas spirit such as “The First Noel”, Somewhere in My Memory” (from Home Alone), “Holiday Feast for a Hungry Choir”, and even one that combines “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen” with “The Nutcracker Suite”.  As our Christmas gift to the community, this concert is FREE to the public, but freewill donations are always appreciated.

Holiday Pops—featuring The Snowman | December 17

Join the Canton Symphony Orchestra for an afternoon of holiday tunes. A young child can’t believe his eyes when the snowman he has created comes to life. One of the best-selling children’s books of modern times, The Snowman is even more enchanting when it’s experienced in the big-screen animated version with live musical soundtrack by the orchestra. A magical family holiday presentation also features traditional favorites like Sleigh Ride, the music from Home Alone, music from Frozen, and of course the ever-popular sing-along. The Wizards of Winter | December 23

Featuring former members of The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, The Wizards of Winter are a diverse orchestra of multi-cultural world class, top tier musicians from the Lehigh Valley.
