9 Things YOU Must Do Before Back-To-School in Stark County

August 3, 2017- Believe it or not…the big yellow bus will be turning the corner and the kids will be heading back to school! It seems like summer flew by so quickly, but don’t worry there is still plenty of time to get in those summer activities before the kids go back. Here are the 9 things you and your kids HAVE to do before summer is over!

1. Back to School Shopping

It’s every Dad’s least favorite word….shopping! This year you don’t have to spend a fortune on the kids back to school style! Shopping at Belden Village Mall, not only showcases the latest fashions, all at affordable prices. With all the kids favorite stores, Justice, American Eagle, Payless, Children’s Place, and so many more, you have one stop shopping! Make sure to check out all the boutiques in Stark County for all your unique back-to-school clothes, including Mainstream Boutique in North Canton, Best Bib and Tucker in Hartville, and Two E’s in a Pod in Hartville!

2. Go Swimming on a HOT day

It’s the last few weeks of summer, so head out toe Clay’s Park Resort in North Lawrence to enjoy their adventure waterpark, Baylor Beach in Navarre, or Clearwater Park in Uniontown.  All three have awesome waterslides, great snack stands, and other activities on location!

3. Enjoy a Milkshake

You can’t go back to school without enjoying a milkshake at your favorite ice cream stand! Heggy’s Nut Shop, Cherry Street Creamery, Almost Heaven Homemade Ice Cream are all local favorites with tasty milkshakes!

4. Go to the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum

Learning is fun with all of the hands on activities at Discover World, with live animals, a shadow catcher, Make-Your-Own tornado, and interact with. There are live planetarium showings every day beginning at 1pm. Take a step back in time in the Street of Shops. Don’t forget to walk up the steps at the McKinley Monument!

5. Enjoy the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival

For two whole weeks, there is something fun for the whole family in Alliance! Enjoy of course ribs, rides, entertainment, and tons of other food vendors. Days in the Park take place Wednesday, August 9th until Saturday, August 12th, which includes a hot air balloon lift-off on Thursday and the Grand Parade on Saturday.

6. Visit the MAPS Air Museum

Make sure you get over to the MAPS Air Museum to see the “Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom Tour,” August 11th through the 13th.  You do not want to miss these World War II planes and all the collection that the MAPS Air Museum has on campus.

7. Massillon Fun Fest

With over 60 kids activities, health screenings, make and take crafts, sports team mascots, local dance studio performances, this is one event your kids will not want to miss! Takes place August 12th from 10am until 2pm. Best part, all activites are FREE or a minimal charge!

8. Go for a Bike Ride

Whether you have your own bike or need to rent one from Ernie’s, Stark County has so many trails you can ride on! Head over to the Wilderness Center in Wilmot, one of the many Stark Park trails, or catch the Ohio Erie & Towpath Trail in Canal Fulton. 9. Stark County Fair

You do NOT want to miss one of the largest agricultural fairs in Ohio running from August 29th until September 4th! With animals, rides, your favorite fair food, 4H projects, live entertainment, demolition derby, and admission price is only $6! On Friday, September 1st, all kids under 14 get in FREE with an adult.
