Thursdays were just FREEd up at the Canton Museum of Art (CMA). Thanks to a new sponsorship from Gasser Fine Jewelers, admission to the CMA galleries will be free every Thursday for the 2016-17 exhibition season. Museum hours are 10:00am to 8:00pm on Thursdays, which allows after school access for families, college students, and those stopping in after the workday. CMA Free Thursdays will give the opportunity to those that have never been to the museum to explore the arts.
CMA Free Thursdays by Gasser Fine Jewelers will kick off with a celebration lunch event on Thursday, September 1 from 11:30am until 1:00pm. Bring your lunch or purchase a tasty lunch from the 72 BBQ food truck on site, relax in the Museum’s Wilkof Courtyard and enjoy a live broadcast from Q-92 Today’s Hit Music, and be among the first to tour the new CMA-original exhibition “Three Voices: Conversations on Life and Conflict.”
This new exhibit will be on view September 1st until the end of October. An all-Ohio exhibit featuring artists Judy Brandon of Cleveland, Leslie Shiels of Cincinnati, and Carol Snyder of Columbus. The Canton Museum of Art describes this exhibit: “...With defining voices in both images and words, these artists bring their thoughts, concerns, and life experiences to our attention through watercolor, oil, and porcelain, creations. The conversations inspired by these women and their art focus on life and conflict. They are looking for visual threads to sew eras, cultures and people together; to tie out lives with our natural world-creating a life experience for audiences to reflect upon.” This exhibition is presented in part by the Volunteer Angels of the Canton Museum of Art.
In addition to CMA Free Thursdays, the Canton Museum of Art’s free First Friday admission, events, and education station will be presented by Gasser Fine Jewelers. CMA will continue to be the “First Stop” to kick off the First Friday Canton Arts District Celebration with creative and unique events such as the Canton Arts District All-Stars, Crafty Mart, and more.
