First Ladies National Historic Site
Overview
The First Ladies National Historic Site is the only site in the world dedicated to the First Ladies of the United States and their significant contributions to American history and the advancement of women. It is home to the National First Ladies Library and includes a beautiful museum showcasing exhibits featuring First Ladies, as well as the Saxton-McKinley House, a fully restored Victorian mansion that was the ancestral home of Canton's own First Lady, Ida Saxton McKinley. The Historic Site also includes a research library (currently accessible by appointment only) and educational space. The site is managed by the National Park Service in partnership with the National First Ladies Library.
Visting the museum is free; however, a fee is charged for tours of the Saxton-McKinley House (fees support the work of the National First Ladies Library).
Group tours are available year round for groups of 10 or more people. Reservations for groups must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Please contact our Group Tour Coordinator for more information or to book your visit today. Tours of the Saxton House begin at the Education Center at 205 Market Ave. S. (corner of Market Ave and 2nd Street).
Visit the National First Ladies' Library for information on current exhibits and events, as well as to book private, curator-led tours of current exhibitions.
