Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium will be the host site for two teams in the 2023 USFL regular season. Canton will also host the North Division playoff game and the USFL Championship game in early July. The Pittsburgh Maulers and New Jersey Generals will call Canton home this season. The Maulers and Generals will kick the season off on Sunday, April 23rd with the first regular season USFL game in Canton.

Curt Menefee | USFL Lead Commentator and Host of FOX NFL Sunday & FOX NFL Thursday
Kicked off the press conference with shout-outs to some of Canton's finest dining destinations, Bender's Tavern and Gervasi Vineyard Resort. He then talked about the last time he visited the Pro Football Hall of Fame back in 2006, which was his first stop on a 17-day road trip that started off in New York City. Menefee is very impressed with the Hall of Fame Village and its expanded campus of venues that compliment a visit to the museum.
Michael Crawford | HOFRECO President & CEO
Crawford spoke about the importance and impact the USFL has on the community and Hall of Fame Village. Both the media exposure and the economic impact make it a top priority for the team. He also shared that the Hall of Fame Village was built with the intent to be a turnkey destination to host events. The Hall of Fame Village development continues in 2023 with the construction of the hotel and indoor waterpark, the only football-themed waterpark in the country.
Daryl "Moose" Johnston | USFL VP of Football Operations
Officially announced the return of the USFL Championship events to Canton in 2023. Johnston shared about the outstanding regional support in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and the partnership with the Hall of Fame Village. In addition the North Division Playoff game being played in Canton. Johnston finished with saying the USFL has, "a strong future in Canton."
Ray Horton | Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Maulers
Horton considers Canton, OH "revered ground" of football and is excited to play with the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a backdrop. He referenced the founding history of the game throughout the region mentioning teams and players including the Fritz Pollard, Akron Pros, Canton Bulldogs, and a well-known coach of Horton's, Paul Brown of Massillon. Coach Horton is eager to have the Pittsburgh Maulers engaged throughout the community, particularly with local youth and high school programs in the Canton area.
Eric Shanks | CEO of FOX Sports
Shanks shared that the team at Hall of Fame Village made it impossible for the USFL to go anywhere else in 2023. Also mentioned the USFL is the first pro league in 40 years to finish the season with a championship title game, excluding the NFL. The USFL Championship trophy is on display in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for fans to visit and see.
