Overview
Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday and Massillon’s 200th Birthday with a brand new experience!
Inspired by the Charity Rotch School of Kendal, this program recreates what a typical day might have looked like for children in the Kendal and Massillon communities. This two-day camp brings history to life through immersive learning, teamwork, outdoor exploration, and hands-on activities while discussing the events that shaped early America.
Enrollment is for campers entering the 3rd through 8th grades. As part of the camp experience, we will explore the broader historical context of American Independence and 1776. Through age-appropriate lessons and discussions, campers will:
- Learn what was happening in America during this time
- Discuss ideas like independence and community
- Consider how national events impacted everyday life
- Build connections between local history and the founding of the United States
But that’s not all! Campers can also participate in a line-up of activities they’re sure to love! Learn skills, make friends, and most importantly, have fun!
- Pioneer crafts
- Wool spinning and weaving
- Butter making
