The Wilderness Center
Overview
The Wilderness Center is a nonprofit land conservation organization and nature center headquartered in Wilmot, Ohio. Our trails are open free-of-charge daily, from sunrise to sunset. The over 12-mile of trails at our headquarters includes old growth forest, a lake, a pond, a lookout tower and native plant prairies.
Outdoor amenities include a paved, wheelchair and stroller accessible Nature Playscape that encourages children to explore nature in creative ways. A child-size, all-terrain wheelchair is available for reservation free-of-charge.
In the Interpretive Building guests can purchase unique items and limited snacks from our nature Gift Shop, observe (and listen to!) birds and other wildlife from the comfort of our indoor Wildlife Observation Room, and learn from hands-on interactive exhibits. The site at Wilmot also features an Astronomy Education Building which houses both a planetarium and observatory.
