National First Ladies Library & Museum
Overview
Located in downtown Canton, Ohio, the First Ladies National Historic Site is the only site in the world dedicated to sharing the stories and legacies of the First Ladies of the United States. This unique destination is home to the National First Ladies Library & Museum, which features rotating exhibits highlighting the lives, leadership, and lasting influence of America’s First Ladies.
Your visit begins at the Visitor Center and Museum, located at 205 Market Avenue South (at the corner of Market Avenue and 2nd Street). Free parking is available at the corner of Market Avenue South and Third Street South. The site also includes the beautifully restored Saxton-McKinley House, a Victorian mansion that was once home to First Lady Ida Saxton McKinley and her husband, President William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States. Guided tours of the home are offered daily at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. While museum admission is free, a small fee is charged for house tours. Proceeds support the preservation and educational work of the National First Ladies Library & Museum and the Historic Site.
