Category: Museum Exhibits
In "Elsewhere", Lizzi Aronhalt continues her ongoing exploration of place, memory, and personal history through drawing and painting. Her work is rooted in a desire to understand the world through observation and reflection, using painting as a way to process both the ordinary and the profound. This body of work looks outward at familiar landscapes across Northeast Ohio while also turning inward, examining how these places are intertwined with emotion, memory, and lived experience.
The paintings move between representation and abstraction, capturing fleeting impressions of architecture, neighborhoods, and figures that feel simultaneously specific and universal. This series marks a renewed engagement with the human figure, as Aronhalt reflects on the presence of family and personal relationships over time. The shifting nature of these relationships mirrors her evolving connection to place—complex, layered, and constantly changing. "Elsewhere" offers glimpses of that transformation, inviting viewers to consider how the places they know shape who they are.
