April 19, 2026 3:00 PM –6:00 PM
Overview
The Alliance Symphony Orchestra will present its Spring Concert on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 3 p.m. in Brush Performance Hall, in the University of Mount Union’s Giese Center for the Performing Arts. Guest conductor Scott MacPherson, Associate Conductor and Director of Chorus of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic, will lead the orchestra.
The program features Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 (“London”), Igor Stravinsky’s Suite No. 2 for Small Orchestra, and Ottorino Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite I, and Aaron Copland’s Variations on a Shaker Melody. The program explores the enduring power of musical tradition. Copland, Respighi, and Stravinsky each draw on earlier forms and melodies, reshaping them with distinctive imagination and voice.
