Tam O'Shanter Park
Overview
The former Tam O’Shanter golf course has been transforming into a natural state and park since 2018. Restoration has included planting of trees, wildflowers, warm-season grasses, and wetland plugs. Parking lots and driveway reconfigurations, along with a restroom project have also occurred. The park is open daily for hiking and nature, and wildlife viewing along the 3 miles of mainly natural surface trails with some former cart path and limestone surfaces. Catch and release fishing is available at the pond next to the main entrance and parking area. Catfish, bass, bluegill, and crappie have been stocked in the pond. A designated sledding area provides a short downhill thrill. The sledding hill is located northwest of the clubhouse off Hills & Dales Rd.
Rental opportunities include a shelter that is nestled among trees overlooking several views of the park. It is perfect for a party of up to 95 people. The open-air shelter is equipped with electricity, picnic tables, ADA picnic table, and two charcoal grills. Parking and a portable restroom are located near the shelter. Future clubhouse rentals will be available.
