Canton, Ohio – Visit Canton will move its staff offices and the downtown visitor information center in 2019. The Visit Canton board of directors unanimously approved the move during their May meeting.
Stark County, Ohio – Visit Canton, the Stark County Convention & Visitors’ Bureau, and ArtsinStark, the County Arts Council, awarded $253,400 in marketing and events grants for the 2018 grant cycle. Visit Canton and ArtsinStark awarded $61,400 in Community Partnership Grants, funds intended for community marketing and events initiatives that encompass authentic historic and cultural places, attractions, traditions, history, music or art. Visit Canton and ArtsinStark also awarded $192,000 in Arts Support funds for use by the seven ArtsinStark 2018 major operating grantees – Canton Museum of Art, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Canton Palace Theatre, Players Guild Theatre, The Canton Ballet, Massillon Museum, and Voices of Canton – for the purpose of enhanced events and marketing initiatives with merit to bring new visitors from outside of Stark County.
Visit Canton introduces a new summer program in 2018, “Pigskin’s Pals”. Registered participants ages 12 and under will receive a membership card that provides access to free, kid-friendly activities at area attractions May 5 through September 3, 2018.
The Ohio high school football 73rd annual North South Classic all-star game will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Massillon, Ohio at Washington High School’s Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. The North South Classic is contested between the top senior football players in the state of Ohio as selected by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association.
