Archaeology Privy Dig

What secrets lie beneath the soil of our 200+ year-old property?

Join us for a tour around the property Spring Hill Historic Home & Underground Railroad Site. We are seeking evidence of former buildings, including the Spring Hill Dairy milking parlor, silos, spring house, Thomas Rotch's cabin, and the "deluxe four-holer" outhouse.
This event is in collaboration with University of Akron, Massillon Museum, and Stark Parks.

All ages event!
-- Younger kids can enjoy digging and sifting for polished stones and other treasures (which they can take home!)
-- Students & adults can help sift dirt from excavation on our property, run the University of Akron's LiDAR machine, and dig in specific shovel test areas.

**Any artifacts discovered on Spring Hill's property will remain the property of Spring Hill Historic Home & Underground Railroad Site. The archaeologist who discovers it will have the opportunity to pose with the artifact, and have their name attached to the collection record**
