Bigfoot, Oktoberfest, and Alpacas Take Over Minerva this Weekend!

Minerva Monster Day features movie showings, Bigfoot Researchers and vendors…and you don’t want to miss Minerva Oktoberfest, Stockers & Streeters On the Bricks Car Show, and National Alpaca Farm Days all day Saturday!

Friday, September 23rd


Monster Movie Short Film Festival | 6:00PM-9:00PM | Roxy Theatre


In the 1970s, there was a spotting of Bigfoot in Minerva. For years, investigators have been tracking the where abouts of this creature.  Friday night will showcase the Ohio premiere of the film, “Wildman: My Search for Sasquatch,” at the Roxy Theatre in Downtown Miverva. Enjoy five short films that were entered into a contest, before the premiere. “Wildman: Search for Sasquatch” is presented by Small Town Monsters.


Saturday, September 24th


National Alpaca Farm Days | 10:00AM-4:00PM | Natural Approach Farm Store


Visit the Natural Approach Farm Store during National Alpaca Farm Days to tour the farm, experience live demonstrations, feel alpaca fleece, learn about raising and breeding alpacas, shop for alpaca products, and enjoy a day at the farm! On Saturday, a shuttle van will run between Minerva’s Oktoberfest, the Stockers & Streeters On the Bricks Car show, and Natural Approach Farm Store, noon-4pm!


Minerva Monster Day | 11:00AM-9:00PM | Municipal Park at Minerva High School


Enjoy a family-friendly celebration of the Minerva Monster! The schedule for the day includes the following: 11AM-vendors open in Municipal Park; 11:30AM-Minvera Monster Day intro by Seth and Brandon of Small Town Monsters; 12PM-showing of “Minerva Monster’; 1PM-showing of “Mystery at Loch Ness” with introduction by the filmmaker, Aleksander Petakov; 1:20PM-showing on “Sasquatch: Out of the Shadows” followed by Q & A with the director; 2PM-showing of “I’ve Seen Bigfoot” with introduction by the filmmakers; 3PM-Dave Knop: presentation “Make Your Own Monster Movie!”; 4PM- Monsters Underground’s Bill Brock; 5PM-Loren Coleman presentation on “Minerva Monster Recalled”; 6PM-“Boggy Creek Monster” sneak peek, presented by Small Town Monsters; 6:30PM-“Beast of Whitehall” presented by Small Town Monsters; 8PM-Monster Movie in the Park “Something in the Woods”


Minerva Oktoberfest | 12:00PM-9:00PM | Minerva High School


Celebrate the first weekend of fall at Minerva’s Oktoberfest with live music, food, vendors, crafters, children’s activities, and contests for all ages. Entertainment includes: Noon – Sassy Silks Twirlers; 12:30PM – Jeff “JT” Teis; 2PM – Celtic Rush; 5PM – The Scenic Route. The schedule for contests is: Pie-Baking Contest – entries due by Noon with winners announced at 1:30PM; Sack Races – 1:30PM; Dress-Your-Dog Contest – 4PM; Beer-Stein Holding Contest – 4:30PM; Wife-Carrying Contest – 5PM. There will also be food, vendors, crafters, a community art project, and children’s activities, including a free hayride, hay-bale maze, make-and-take projects, a bounce house, haystack search, panning for gold, Lost French Gold scavenger hunt, and more. A shuttle van, courtesy of True North Church, will run between Oktoberfest, the Stockers & Streeters On the Bricks Car Show, and National Alpaca Farm Days at Natural Approach Farm Store, Noon until 4PM. There will be a free showing of “Something in the Woods” at 8PM in conjunction with Minerva Monster Day.


Stockers & Streeters On the Bricks Car Show | 12:00PM-4:00PM | North Market Street


All makes and models are welcome, and the show is rain or shine, with registration beginning at 9AM, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25. Parking on the bricks is first-come, first-served. The entry fee is $6, and 50 awards and one mayor’s choice trophy are presented each day. Spikeman will play music from the 50s and 60s. On Saturday, a shuttle van will run between the car show, Minerva’s Oktoberfest, and National Alpaca Farm Days at Natural Approach Farm Store, Noon until 4PM.
